Blu-Ray Wins

Toshiba just announced that they're going to cease production of HD-DVD products. Looks like blu-ray has won. Now we just need a way to author video blu-ray discs on the mac. (via Daring Fireball)

Editing RED footage

I'm in pre-production on a 30 minute short film being shot this upcoming weekend on a new RED camera. We did a camera test yesterday, and the editing side of things looks to be a bit more complicated than I imagined. Here are some of my notes, along with my thoughts on how I plan to tackle the project.

Fixing Slow Loading in FCP 6.0.2

Over the last few days, FCP has been taking a full minute to load up on my 8-core Mac Pro. After a quick search, I found this knowledge-base article. I changed my thumbnail cache (in System Settings), and everything was back to normal... 5 second startup.
